Introduction

The aim of Workforce Support is to develop the capacity of the general practitioner workforce in rural and remote areas; and the accessibility of the general practitioner workforce to rural and remote communities.

The role of the Workforce Support Officer is to provide support such as training, education, mentoring and professional development, to newly arrived and existing general practitioners. In doing this the Workforce Support Officer takes into account the particular needs of General Practitioners that work in remote areas; and those who are overseas trained doctors, locums and medical students.

Our Workforce Support Officer is accredited to apply for Continued Professional Development (CPD) points for educational events that are arranged by the Pilbara Health Network.

Workforce will sponsor GP’s attendance at a one day Cultural Awareness workshop at Wangka Maya in Port Hedland. If you are interested please contact Workforce Support Officer.

Workforce Support also offers GP Training and Professional Development Assistance of up to $3,000 p.a. (plus GST) to assist primary members with course or conference fees or travel costs.  This assistance enables Pilbara GP’s to attend training or professional development outside the Pilbara region. We currently offer ten grants of up to $3,000 per financial year for the professional development.

For more information please call the Workforce Support Program Officer on T: 9185 6662 or email workforce [at] pdgp [dot] com [dot] au (workforce [at] pdgp [dot] com [dot] au)

CME

Med-E-Serv PriMeD is a great way to complete your CME. PriMeD earns you as many as 5 x RACGP Group 1 points per hour but you can do it at home and in sessions as short as 15 minutes. Thousands of GP's enjoy the program which is made up of an interesting variety of learning options and allows you to work with GPs from all over Australia. Here are a few comments from participants.

Each week new units are released, but you can do any of the units at any time. Your personal learning journal keeps track of your progress so you never get lost and all your CME points accrue automatically.

You will need to register (FREE) for your access and for your personal learning journal which will automatically update your accumulated points to the RACGP. PriMeD features, including the personal journal, are powered by the Med-E-Serv InTouch identity service which is used by many Colleges and medical societies. You may already have an InTouch username and password, if so enter Med-E-Serv PriMeD now! If not, no problem, register here – it’s Free
