Day Course in Hepatitis C Medicine
The ASHM Day Course in Hepatitis C Medicine provides comprehensive training for medical practitioners, nurses and allied health in the science of hepatitis C infection, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment options, as well as the complicating factors surrounding HCV management.
Topics will include:
- Epidemiology, transmission and public health issues of HCV infection
- Natural history and disease progression of HCV
- Risk assessment, screening and diagnosis for HCV
- Initial primary care management and when to refer for treatment
- Legal and social aspects of HCV infection
- Initiation of therapy and side effects management
- Impact of alcohol and other drug use
- Long term management of cirrhotic patients
The information will be presented in a variety of formats, including short presentations, with interactive question and answer sessions and case discussion.
