There is no cost to join.
Why join?
There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Pilbara Health Network. These include:
- Communication - through weekly faxstreams, bi-monthly newsletter, mailout of important information, purchase / loan of videos and resources upon request and access to the current video library.
- Facilitation of training and CPD events for GP's - we can help accommodate your local CPD requests. The Workforce Officer continues to support you from PDGP in this regard. In addition, as a GP member, you can apply to the Division for financial assistance (up to $1,500) to attend a Conference.
- Upskilling opportunities -PHN can fully fund a palliative care clinical attachment for you in Perth, training on the co-morbidity of Mental Health and Substance misuse through the Managing the Mix Project and, when available, the National Prescribing Service topics.
- Allied Health Services - through our More Allied Health Services (MAHS) program, the Division funds a Dietician, Diabetes Educator and Podiatrist to work in Karratha on MAHS for patients referred by GP's. We are also working with your practice and Pilbara Gascoyne Health Services to improve immunization rates and specific support and training for nurses on immunization.
- Social Networking Events -the Division organises for GP's to attend social and networking events to assist with communication and prevention of professional isolation. Where possible, these events encourge family involvement.
- Satellite Television - PHN will be installing a satellite decoder at our offices in Karratha. This will be available to GP's for watching health programs that they may not be able to view otherwise. GP's will be welcome to visit us and view live broadcasts. Additionally, PHN records RHEF and WACRRM educational broadcasts and loans these recordings (via a loan roster) to provide continuing education.
- Video & Teleconferencing - PDGP has video and teleconferencing facilities available for GP use. This enables GP's to participate in training and conferences being held in other cities or interstate. The video conferencing unit can also be used to deliver diabetes education and dietetics to patients of inland GP's.
Divisions are supported by the Australian General Practice Network
